For the past four years, Felix B., and his interdisciplinary team have been driving innovative lightweight solutions – a key aspect in modern mobility. Reducing weight while increasing safety and performance is one of the central challenges in electric vehicle development.

Innovative Protection for Modern Mobility
When a customer requested an intrusion protection solution for a new vehicle platform, the requirements were demanding: maximum battery safety, reduced weight, and a sustainable solution that could be implemented efficiently in industrial production.

Felix and the team developed a new Intrusion Protection Plate that manages crash energy and controls impact forces. By reducing intrusion into the passenger compartment, it helps protect both occupants and the vehicle structure.

At the same time, the solution meets high standards in structural lightweight design and industrial efficiency, supporting the performance requirements of modern electric vehicles.

Global Expertise – One Shared Goal
The project demonstrates how global collaboration strengthens competitiveness. Development takes place in Worms, pre-production is carried out in Anhui, and series production is located in Peine.

In close cooperation with colleagues in China, the team was able to secure significant cost advantages and ensure a competitive overall package for the customer. Starting in 2027, the Intrusion Protection Plate will be used across multiple vehicle models. As a platform solution, it represents a long-term commitment and underlines the trust placed in Röchling’s capabilities.

When Gökhan K. took on responsibility for Infrastructure & Security Services at Röchling Industrial, the mission was clear: to ensure maximum security for systems and data – without compromising the productivity of users. A clear objective, and at the same time a challenging balancing act.

Making Security Possible
How does he master this balancing act and set new standards along the way? Through communication and teamwork. His ambition is not merely to talk about security measures, but to make them possible – holistically, sustainably, and in close coordination with all sites.

Enabling Implementation
Gökhan creates an environment in which his team can succeed – with clear structures, resources, and the freedom to develop solutions. Together, the team implements measures operationally – from patch automation and network optimisation to the introduction of new policies.

For Gökhan, security is a fundamental principle. He and his team develop solutions that do not hinder but open up new perspectives. Because IT security is more than technology – it is a mindset that goes beyond tools.

As program manager at the Rochester site, Tim B. is the primary face and voice to the customer. In this role, he ensures clear communication, while closely coordinating with engineering, supply chain, daily operations, and quality teams.

Taking Over a Challenging Account
Tim took over a major customer account in early 2022. After a strong start to the partnership in 2017, the relationship deteriorated. He was faced with fluctuating deliveries driven by supply chain disruptions and insufficient validation.

Root Cause Analysis and Stabilisation
Through extensive investigative work, the team identified root causes and implemented corrective actions. By the end of 2023, validation was completed, enabling a transition to MIM production. This change delivered significant cost savings for the customer.

From Performance Recovery to Growth
Over the next two years, the team stabilised the supply chain for jaw components and improved forecast transparency with suppliers. By the end of 2024, performance had markedly improved, with delivery reliability at 97% and quality acceptance at 96%. As a result, Röchling became a preferred supplier, opening the door to new programmes.

Turning Drawings into Reality
What is just a drawing for others is, for Carina, the drive to turn an idea into reality: a precisely manufactured component, exactly tailored to customer requirements. Complex contours, tight tolerances, and demanding materials quickly show that every part requires more than a standard process. This is where she steps in—with technical know-how, precision, and a passion for machining to find the best possible solution.

Growing beyond Standard Solutions
Early on, it was clear to Carina that she wanted more than just standard solutions. Additional trainings, competitions, and new challenges became opportunities to consistently develop her potential, while winning a silver medal in CNC milling at EuroSkills proved what is possible when trust meets responsibility.

Learning and Winning as a Team
At the same time, Carina knows that the best solutions are created as a team—through exchange, different perspectives, and the shared ambition to learn from one another. Today she works in fixture construction and trains young talents, passing on what she has learned—and continuing to grow herself. For her, shaping ideas into form means recognizing possibilities and making them real, together.

A Functional Upgrade under Extreme Conditions
When two visible but non-functional vehicle openings became a market issue for a customer, the objective was clear: integrate a functional solution into a highly restricted package space, keep all existing interfaces unchanged, and achieve start of production (SOP) within only four months. Due to fixed interfaces, extremely limited installation space, and considerable time pressure, the task initially seemed nearly impossible.

Creating Technical Clarity
During the first alignment meetings, Jingbo and Chao defined the technical framework conditions and clearly identified which aspects could be modified and which had to remain unchanged. Together with the customer, requirements were systematically broken down from overall vehicle targets to detailed system requirements—creating a stable, reliable foundation for efficient collaboration.

Continuous Alignment
The most demanding phase consisted of 20 days of daily technical alignments. Through structured preparation and fact-based discussions, the team successfully transformed pressure into progress. The solution resolved the issue and strengthened confidence in Röchling’s performance, with Röchling receiving an official customer award and recognition plaque. In the end, what seemed impossible became achievable through clarity, discipline, and teamwork.

A New Start—with Perspective
Being a Possibilist means seeing opportunities where others see limits. Dennis’ journey is a powerful example of how development can succeed—with courage, trust, and the right environment. Dennis began his career in the traditional trades, training as a painter and varnisher. After completing his apprenticeship, he gained experience but soon realized he wanted something different in the long run.

Starting over at 37
Sometimes it’s the small everyday moments that lead to major change. “On my daily commute to work, I kept seeing the advertisement for the career‑changer apprenticeship as a machine and plant operator at Röchling Medical in Neuhaus. I couldn’t forget about it, but starting over at 37? I had a lot of respect for that decision. But I also knew: When, if not now?”, he says. On March 1, he began the program and completed the final exam after just nine months.

A Vote of Confidence
From the very beginning, Dennis felt well supported and genuinely enjoyed the work: teamwork and precision in a calm, technologically focused environment. In 2019, he was offered a team lead role. “I was thrown in at the deep end—but with a lifeline. That vote of confidence meant a lot to me.” Today, Dennis is certain it was the right decision. “It’s the people, the culture, and the familiar sense of togetherness that make the difference here. You feel respected and supported.”
